A few words on my process, business model and lead times
When I first started working on this collection, I focused primarily on sculptural work, finding great freedom in prioritizing concept and form. Function was an afterthought, if considered at all. Gradually, I started making more functional work, resulting in many of the design pieces you see in my collection today. These are not separate lines but pieces that coexist alongside each other: a balancing act requiring different but complementary approaches to concept, form, functionality, and materiality.
Clay is my chosen medium, and I hand-build using traditional techniques of coiling, pinching, and slabbing. This means that my process is inherently slow. It involves a series of gestural movements for the final piece to emerge: sculptural and functional but also structurally sound, with no cracks and no glaze defects.
Every item is unique, as I hand-build each one in my Paris studio. While I am open to recreating a piece for my clients, each new iteration will be part of a series, reflecting ongoing exploration and development of my original forms. I know my clients appreciate this meticulous craftsmanship, a sensibility that is increasingly rare. When you purchase, or commission a special piece from makers like myself, you are making a deliberate choice amidst the myriad of options available in the broader design industry.
I continually strive to create pieces that foster a deep connection and become cherished parts of your living space. By choosing my work, you embrace the slow movement and understand the necessary lead time in my business model. Though I currently work alone and spend considerable time in my studio, your patience is not lost on me. My next milestone is to make more pieces readily available for purchase without long lead times.
There has never been more interest in having beautiful, well-designed objects for the home. Today’s social media landscape offers a vast array of images, options, and products. While the mainstream design industry often prioritizes fast, industrialized production, I aim to carve a place for myself within a community of makers who work at the intersection of design, art, and craft. Together, we can continue to challenge the status quo and reassert the position of craft in the broader contemporary design scene.
